ApurioVenturi Scrubber System for Industrial Air Purification

SHARE

Venturi scrubbers are an effective solution for industrial exhaust air cleaning, specifically when handling sticky, wet, or abrasive dusts that challenge dry scrubbers. This system leverages the Venturi effect to disperse washing liquid, typically water, into a contaminated air stream, allowing for the transition of air pollutants from the gaseous to the liquid phase. The pollutants-laden liquid droplets are then collected, enabling sedimentation of dust from the washing liquid. The Venturi scrubber can adapt to a broad range of applications, providing simultaneous removal of particulate and gaseous pollutants without the need for filter media. Compliance with the 42nd BImSchV ensures operator adherence to regulatory requirements, including Legionella control. The scrubber's design flexibility allows for customization tailored to specific exhaust air conditions, thus serving as a reliable, full-service solution for pollution control.

Venturi scrubbers are wet scrubbers and are used when dry scrubbers are not suitable (e.g., for sticky, wet, or abrasive dust). In a Venturi scrubber, the contaminated air is brought into contact with a washing liquid (usually water). Here, the washing liquid is dispersed into the air stream via the Venturi effect (acceleration of the air stream through a narrowing of the cross-section). The air pollutants transition from the gas phase to the liquid phase. The washing liquid droplets laden with air pollutants can be separated from the air and collected in a basin due to inertia. In the basin, separation between dust and washing liquid occurs through sedimentation.

The operation of wet scrubbers with water is regulated by the 42nd Regulation for the Implementation of the Federal Immission Control Act (42nd BImSchV or “Legionella Regulation”). This entails various obligations for operators of such systems to protect against Legionella.

  • Sticky, tacky, or wet dusts
  • Abrasive, flammable, or explosive dusts
  • Water-soluble exhaust components
  • Broad application field
  • Simultaneous separation of particles & and gases possible
  • Different designs of the used venturi nozzle are possible (depending on the exhaust air).
  • In contrast to the dry separator, suitable for a wider spectrum of dust.
  • Simultaneous separation of particles and gaseous emissions possible.
  • No filter media/adsorbent with regular replacement.
  • Fire protection/explosion protection in the wet separator through wet process.

All plant components (pipework, vessels, electrical components, etc.) can be manufactured and supplied in the following materials:

  • Steel
  • Galvanized steel
  • Stainless steel (e.g., V2A)
  • Plastic (e.g., polypropylene (PP), polyethylene (PE), electrically conductive polyethylene)
