HiVoSa -Â Bacterial Concentration Unit for Drinking Water
HiVoSa (High Volume Sampling) is a device that, using cross flow filtration, can concentrate bacteria in drinking water, thus lowering the detection limit up to 1000 times. The low detection limit allows slight bacterial contamination to be discovered long before they are powerful enough to pose a real problem.
HiVoSa can be used for increased self-control. HiVoSa can filter very large amounts of water using Cross Flow filtration technology, where the water sample is recycled quickly over a large filter surface so that the particles do not clog the filter easily. When the water sample passes the filter, the water is pushed through the filter while bacteria and other particles are retained in the circulating system. Thus, the concentration of bacteria becomes higher and higher inside the system and, for example, 100 liters of water can be reduced to a volume of 100 ml.
The 100 ml, now containing 100-liter bacteria, can be drained from the system and analyzed by standard methods.
The water sample is recycled with a high flow combined with a low transmembrane pressure to maximize the germination of the bacteria.
After draining the desired sample, the system is purified by heating to 70 ° C. All coliform bacteria left in the system are killed without the addition of chemicals and there is thus no risk that chemical residues in the system destroy the next sample.
HiVoSa can concentrate bacteria from about 1 liter of water per minute.
- Filtering of very large water samples (very low detection limit for bacteria)
- High recovery rate - 75-90%
- No chemicals
- needed Minimum maintenance cost
- Minimum operating costs
- Filter pore size = 0.3 μm
- Active filter area = 2.3 m 2
All the knowledge that is below the current detection limit can be brought to the surface with a HiVoSa.
