BeirensModel Gigogne -Concentric Flue Chimneys

SHARE

Gigogne, or concentric flue, chimneys comprise several nested flue liners of decreasing diameters. The internal flues evacuate fumes from the generators and the shell evacuates fumes and forms the structural shell of the chimney. Gigogne chimneys provide the ideal response to the regulations: «Every effort is made to ensure that the combustion gases are evacuated using the least number of chimneys possible, at a height enabling an effective dispersal of pollutants». Gigogne chimneys are designed for all types of gas, heavy fuel oil, biogas or biomass-fired electricity generators and boilers. They are adapted to evacuate all types of gases. The smoke temperature can reach 600°C. To optimise maintenance and repairs, only the central flue (with a smaller diameter) can be used with solid or liquid fuel. The ring smoke flues are for use with natural gas.

The off-centre inner flue is guided on the height by guiding clamps “without a fixed point”. This characteristic stabilises the smoke flue and allows it to expand freely. The inner flue is welded continuously on the shell at the inlet point to seal the chimney. This design is a BEIRENS innovation.

Tightness of roof crossing
BEIRENS chimneys are installed inside and outside of buildings. For inside installations, the building must be made watertight at the roof crossing, and so we have fitted a storm collar in stainless steel 1.4301 (304L) from 6/10th to 10/10th of a mm thick, fastened by adjustable pipe clamp and seal.

  • Compliance with ejection speeds irrespective of the power differences between generators
  • Guidance without fixed point at the chimney head for free expansion of the inner flues
  • Chimney termination seal and return at the top in stainless steel 1.4404 (316L)
  • Flue gas inlet at 135° with belt and straight base reinforcements at the openings
  • Shell insulated with mineral wool, density 80kg/m3, thickness 50mm
  • Roundness belts on the shell to ensure the mechanical resistance of the chimney
  • Inspection door
  • Condensation collection bottom trap
  • Chimney anchored by threaded screws embedded in the concrete
  • Isoxal finish (primary aluminium)

  • Lightning conductor system: stainless steel rods comply with local regulations with “crow’s foot” earth connection,
copper plate outside heat insulation and lightning meters
  • Fall arrest system ladder compliant with NF EN 353-1, fixed hoop ladder with landings or offset flights (height
between two landings to 6m according to NFE 85-016 and ISO 14122-4, height between 2 platforms, so a single
section to 8m according to NFE 85-016 and to 10m according to ISO 14122-4). Specific compliance on demand.
  • Inspection platform and work platform compliant with NFE 85-014 or ISO 14122-2. Specific compliance on
    demand.
  • Access door(s) and passage(s)
  • 100mm thick mineral wool insulation
  • Weighted index measuring point EN 13 284 2
  • Continuous measuring points
  • Aircraft warning day-time marking: with paint red and white stripes
  • Aircraft warning night-time marking: high-intensity duty/standby lamps to be supplied from chimney base
