Binder+Co CRITERION - Separating System
CRITERION is the system for separating different types of plastic. Also in developing CRITERION, Binder+Co approached the challenge from the view point of the user. The needs of our customers for a compact multi-stream solution led to the conception of CRITERION.
By using a perforated belt conveyor, a belt-sorting system was developed in which the blow-off valves are positioned under the carrying run of the belt and the parts to be discharged are directly blown into blow-off cages arranged above through the belt.
CRITERION is available in the standard sorting widths of 800 mm and 1000 mm. Should higher throughput rates be required, two sensors can be placed next to each other. In this arrangement, sorting widths of 1600 mm and 2000 mm are achieved.
In the same way that glass-sorting systems obtain their light information in the ultraviolet and visible frequency range, plastics are detected by means of spectroscopy in the NIR range (near infra-red). The chemical composition of plastics differs, and this is something that can be identified in their different colour spectra. In CRITERION, too, the information from the sensor and camera is fused and the colour information from the various plastics evaluated and used as a sorting criterion.
