Biofilter for Biological Air Depuration

Stoerk Umwelttechnik's biofilters are designed for efficient biological air depuration. The system leverages microorganisms housed in biofilter material to adsorb and biologically oxidize air pollutants. Pollutants transition into a fluid phase on the supporting material, becoming accessible to the microorganisms. These microbes then metabolize the pollutants, converting them into biomass and thereby removing contaminants from the air. By utilizing the belflor® biofilter technique, Stoerk Umwelttechnik enhances the natural biological processes to achieve optimal air purification.

Microorganisms inside the biofilter live in a comfortable supporting material, that is to say in the biofilter material. The air polluting substances to be treated are adsorbed on the surface of the supporting material (passage to a fluid phase) and thus made accessible for the microorganisms.

As a consequence pollutants are biologically oxidised so that microorganisms can use them as nourishment and energy source, that is to say to form their own biomass.
