Unlimited cycle-timer capabilities

The 24 hour timer can be set for up to 8 off/on periods, allowing you to operate the BirdBuffer Q3 only at periods of bird activity. During “On” periods, a cycle-timer turns on the blower to push out any residual vapor that is inside the unit, and then activates the compressor to create more vapor. The cycle timer can be adjusted to run for longer periods for problem areas, and after you have achieved success you may want to reduce the settings to create just enough vapor to keep the birds from coming back, while conserving fluid and power. The cycling of the compressor that makes the vapor will stay on the settings you provide, while the blower is constant, giving more coverage.

Why is automation of the machine important?

In our studies, we have found that the automation is extremely important to good bird control. By offering a timer that turns the vapor-producing compressor on and off at regular intervals, we have found:

The vapor spreads better and stays drier without residue.
It keeps the vapor from being too thick. Being invisible is key to our program.
It provides less consumption of product at the right times. The one gallon per month can only work with automation.
It pulses the particles further without over-saturating the air with too much product. Too much vapor is as bad as too little. Proper settings are key to best results.

For open outdoor areas

Over time, the Bird Buffer will cover a one acre area when strategically placed with the wind assisting (downwind position) or a wind machine. To check wind direction and best placement, use the Windicator Can of spray smoke to determine coverage and be able to “see” the air movement and direction. Start with a 200’ x 200’ space in the highest area of bird control needs. Allow the bird control to increase and spread outward over several weeks. You will see fewer birds each week as time progresses.

If you are in a closed environment with employees or public and the vapor becomes too strong, it is easy to turn down the volume. The vapor should release a soft, sweet scent that is pleasant for people, but causes the birds to just go away. Never have the unit turned up so high that the scent becomes overwhelming.

Best time to achieve bird control

The best results are achieved if the vapor is applied when birds are the most active, such as the early morning and in the evening, just before settling down for the night. Adjust the clock timer to turn the unit on just before dawn (adjust for Daylight Saving Time) when birds are flying to look for their preferred feeding grounds, and late afternoon till 30 minutes past dark, when they fly to locations to roost for the night. It is important to expose the birds early enough that they have time to find another location before dark. This is a training process that takes a few weeks. Most bird control is achieved during the day; do not run the machine at night unless there are lights causing activity or you are dealing with nocturnal birds.
