BirdbufferModel Thermal Fogger -Bird Control Device

SHARE

Manually operated with potent thick fog, it uses the same fluid for stubborn and little birds. Quiet, lightweight and easy to carry, it’s the perfect accessory to give your bird control a head-start. Best when used in conjunction with an automated BirdBuffer unit to keep the birds away. The thicker fog this produces can be very effective, but remember it is manually operated and must have an operator to work. You can never leave the unit while it is turned on. It must be turned off in order to be set down.

The BirdBuffer TF is very easy to use and so handy to have. No electricity is required. This means no cords or power to handle. When the unit is operating, it is completely quiet and much easier to use than loud equipment.

For bird control, this thicker fog can be very effective, but remember it is manually operated and must have an operator to work. You can never leave the unit while it is turned on. It must be turned off in order to be set down.

When using BirdBuffer TF, it cannot be left on. When you leave it must be turned off and placed in a safe location.

To turn off, just turn the knob next to the propane tank to the off position. The silver cage area will stay hot for a while, so be certain not to set it down next to any combustibles. Let it cool before doing any other functions. Always keep it in an upright position.

This fogger does not have a pump, so manual pumping is necessary. Just squeeze the red trigger under the handle. Each squeeze will produce fog. It is not necessary to produce huge clouds to gain the effect needed in making the birds feel the product.

First, add fluid to the canister, and attach a propane bottle. Turn on the propane with just a ¼ turn or until you hear the hiss.

Stand upwind from your bird area and walk into the area slowly and quietly. As you start to fog, slowly back away or “waft” the fog toward the birds. You do not want to scare the birds away; you want as many birds to “feel” the effect as possible.

You may see birds becoming uncomfortable. This means that they are feeling the effect. Continue to pump the red handle/trigger slowly, creating fog. This should make the birds leave (if they are breathing it in) within 10 minutes.

Push the igniter button for the spark to light the flame. The screened area will ignite. The low blue flame takes about 2 minutes to get up to temperature. It should be pink on the coils. Now push the upper red button to unlock the handle when ready to fog.

During the planning of your fogging, be certain that there is no public activity to work around. The best applications are normally in the morning when you catch the birds roosting and people are not exposed. The odor of the fog is not pleasant and should not be used around public areas during activity.

In hotel settings, be certain doors and windows are closed to keep the fog from going indoors. Normally the fog will go away with air movement in 10 minutes or more, but if it goes inside, it could linger for hours.

When determining the wind flow, a can of Windicator will show how the wind/air movement may shift once it gets up 10’ or more. This shift will help you determine the best area to be in so that when you start to fog you are not standing in the middle without the fog moving toward the birds. See how the trail of smoke rises then turns up high. This will indicate you will need to back away in the opposite direction.

Working with the hotel management is important. This application was during the heat of the day when the birds were stubborn and staying around in private corners. Later we found a nest, which is always a big reason for birds to return and not leave permanently. The fog will chase them away, but as long as there is a nest, they will return until the nesting is finished.

As the fog starts to spread, please note that the amount of area it will cover is much more than what you will visibly see with the fog. The birds are very sensitive to this fog and will respond. Just let the fog do the work and get as many of the birds exposed to the fog as possible. Birds in the fog are much better. They will eventually fly but will remember the effect much longer and not want to return.

When first starting to fog, allow the air to take the fog where you want it to be. In this application, the fog moved toward the birds and around the corner to where the birds were being very stubborn.

The best part of this quiet fogger is the ability to fog without disturbing the tenants or the birds. Customers were sleeping inside while this bird work was going on. It was easy to get the job done quietly without any disturbance at all.

As the fog spread, it started to go around the corner and above in hiding areas where birds had been roosting. This fog stimulated them to fly after they’d had a good dose, and they will remember this when coming back into the BirdBuffer zone.

Reaching those hard to get to places may seem daunting at first, but once you’ve seen the amount of space the BirdBuffer Q2 can cover and the impact a BirdBuffer TF can have, you’ll realize that it makes a big difference. You always want to make the biggest impact with the birds, but with the least amount of impact on the public.

Using the BirdBuffer TF again has been successful in gaining more bird control. The rest of the birds now have left and when they return they find the BirdBuffer is still there, constantly keeping a little of the vapor in the air.

As the fog maneuvered around the building, the area all the way down several floors was affected. It made the birds much more sensitive to the MA. Now when the BirdBuffer was operating, they were much more sensitive to the area and stayed away.

Now when the birds return to see if it is still operating, the birds find they’re more sensitive to the vapor in the air.

But don’t be fooled. Birds will continue to come back to see if they can outsmart it someday. And if they find the BirdBuffer not working, they will bring all of their new bird friends with them.

Normally it is not this visible. But with the backlight from the sun you can still see the fog drifting around the building. Using the air flow to keep the birds down wind is extremely important. During high winds, this would not be as effective.

So keep the BirdBuffer working and plan to deal with the last few by using the BirdBuffer TF method to gain more sensitivity. In areas where there are constant migratory birds passing through, use the BirdBuffer TF occasionally to keep birds sensitized and get a faster response. Instead of waiting the 2 weeks for new birds to be trained, use the BirdBuffer TF to give a kick to your bird control.

Wafting the fog thins it out and spreads it around. Without wafting the fog stays together. It is better if the fog is separated by more air, spreading it out. Slow air movement helps.
