AFAB - Brix Refractometer
A brix refractometer is the instrument used to measure refractive index of an item`s sucrose (Brix) level.
Although brix refractometers are best known for measuring liquids, they are also used to measure gases and solids. A Brix Refractometer is frequently used by grape growers, Kiwifruit growers, home brewers as well as food producers for Brix testing of sucrose levels in their fruit. A Brix Refractometer can also used in the gelatin industry. To convert the Refractive Index (See our refractive index table) of a gelatin sol (reported in Brix) to a gelatin concentration, one need only multiply by eight-tenths (0.8). A sol with a 10.0 Brix would therefore be 8% gelatin by weight.
This is known to be a reliable conversion for gelatin sols as low as 1% up to over 50%. The following of our products can be configured to be used as a Brix Refractometer: PR-111 Most of our handheld refractometers models starting with HR-0xx Most of the digital handheld refractometers models starting with PA-20x and DR-0xx The benchtop Abbe refractometer AR-001
