carbon removal
- Pump and treat filtration
- Lowers overall operating cost relative to utilizing activated carbon
- As a pre-treatment, extends life and absorbency of activated carbon by removal of larger molecular organics
- Accommodates increases in flow rates and contaminant concentration levels
- Provides a "fail-safe" method to prevent oil contamination
- Non-hazardous
- Operates in standalone mode for treatment of oil contaminated waters or stream condensates
Characteristics
- Appearance Tan Granules
- Specific Gravity 2.3 - 2.5
- Bulk Density 54 - 56 lbs/ft3
- BTU Value of Spent Media > 2,000 BTU/lb
- Solubility in Water Negligible

- Influent waste stream must be free of suspended solids
- Load the vessel with a minimum of 2 ft (0.6 m) of PM-100 Z
- Leave a minimum of 15% - 20% head space to allow for expansion of media during back flush
- Fill the vessel with freshwater and back flush vessel (up-flow) for 30 ± 2 minutes to remove fines and eliminate entrained air from the bed
- After back flush, do not drain vessel. The vessel is now ready for down flow operation.
- Liquid Filtration Vessels with under-drainage systems (laterals or screens should be smaller than 0.0165 inches [0.42 mm])
- 50 lb bags
