SHARE

Chemical reactors are devices used to carry out a process with regard to relevant process parameters such as temperature, pressure. These devices are designed with consideration of the processes taking place inside them, such as the kinetics of the reaction, thermal effects, properties of the substance or the method of substrate mixing. The design is preceded by appropriate process and mechanical calculations together with the determination of the geometry of the whole installation. Chemical reactors are usually equipped with agitators, heating and cooling jacket, control and measuring system.

An important aspect of reactors is their chemical resistance to substances inside. They are often dangerous substances, such as explosive or chemically aggressive. Therefore, these devices are made of materials resistant to selected customer’s media.

Apart from the properties of mixed substances and process conditions, when designing a chemical reactor, one should also think about it:

  • the volume of one charge – which determines the dimensions of the reactor,
  • a type of agitator,
  • standard of manufacturing, e.g. hygienic, aseptic, industrial,
  • the safety of the process.

Chemical reactors can be divided into groups according to how the process is conducted:

  • Periodic – substrates are loaded into the tank and after some time the mixture is removed from it;
  • continuous stream – substrates flow into the reactor and the reaction mixture flows out of the reactor in a continuous stream;
  • semi-continuous – a combination of batch and continuous method.

The chemical reactor can be used in cosmetics, chemical and food industries, but also in research institutes. In each case, we make every effort to ensure that the use of the reactor is safe and the standard of its manufacture is adapted to the requirements and the customer.

We make chemical reactors also for flammable substances, according to the ATEX directive.
