CHLORINSITU - Model II -Open Cell Electrolysis System
The CHLORINSITU II is an open cell electrolysis system in which the electrochemical reaction takes place in a flow through the cell chamber, so that the freshly produced active chlorine immediately reacts with the sodium hydroxide to form sodium hypochlorite.
A saturated brine is used as a salt solution, which is produced in a separate salt dissolving tank from salt of a defined quality (biocidal directive). The advantage of an open cell electrolysis lies in the simple construction of the equipment, its ease of maintenance and low investment compared with membrane cell electrolysis systems.
The electrical and chemical consumption are relatively high. Chemical conversion is approx. 50% of brine, resulting in a slightly higher power consumption and relatively low chlorine concentrations (5 g/l FAC) in the end product. A slightly higher chloride levels in the water to be treated is a logical result of the open cell technology.
As a salt source both NaCl and KCl can be used for the CHLORINSITU II open cell electrolysis. In this way the CHLORINSITU II electrolyser system can be used in the Agricultural sector as well.
