Shanxi Xinhui - Model KH13-1 -Coal-Based Columnar Activated Carbon
KH13-1 is a coal-based columnar activated carbon developed and produced by Shanxi Xinhui. It is used for producing impregnated activated carbon, filling various industrial gas protection devices, and is also suitable for various gas phase adsorption applications.
- Origin: Shanxi, China
- CAS NO.: 64365-11-3
- Molecular formula: C
- EINECS NO.: 264-846-4
- Certificate: MSDS, ISO9001
The various coal types required for activated carbon production are analyzed and tested, and metering and blending experiments are conducted using single and multiple coal types. Then, the process involves pulverization, bonding, pressing and shaping, carbonization, activation, and sieving. The key is achieved through the following two steps:
- Carbonization: In an oxygen-free environment (usually using inert gases such as nitrogen or argon) within a temperature range of 300–700 °C, the carbon components are pyrolyzed and carbonized.
- Activation/Oxidation: Under temperature conditions above 700 °C, generally in the range of 700–900 °C, the original material or carbonized material is placed in an oxidizing gas (carbon monoxide, oxygen, or water vapor) for activation.
This product complies with the NSF application standards for columnar activated carbon in the American AWWA standard.

Describe: Numerical values
- Protection time against carbon monoxide: ≥60 minutes
- 30-minute CO permeation: ≤380mL
- Sieve size/by weight, American standard sieve mesh series
- Particle size: 1.3mm
- Filling density: 430-510 g/l
KH13-1 is primarily used for filling filter canisters, fire-fighting filter-type self-rescue breathing apparatus, and mining self-rescue devices to protect against carbon monoxide gas. This activated carbon is a crude-grade medium, generally used in depth filters operating under reduced pressure. The main function of KH13-1 is as a dual-purpose medium combining filtration and adsorption.
This type of activated carbon air filter combines physical adsorption and chemical decomposition.
It decomposes formaldehyde, ammonia, benzene, cigarette smoke, cooking fumes, and other toxic emissions and odors in the air, especially carcinogenic aromatic compounds.
It has a strong adsorption capacity and is a common adsorbent, catalyst, or catalyst carrier for ensuring full contact with harmful gases. It removes harmful gases from the air by absorbing them through its pores.
