In modern industries light is becoming an important tool for advanced process technology. UV light is used for water disinfection, air cleaning, curing of adhesives and inks and for surface cleaning in LCD and semiconductor industries. IR light is successfully employed in rapid thermal processes in semiconductor, solar, food and various other manufacturing industries.
UV and IR lamps are crucial components for advanced industrial processes providing high reliability, short processing time and low cost of ownership.
Highest intensities and light distribution are key requirements for most applications. In addition purity becomes a more and more important factor in manufacturing high quality products.
Heraeus has developed a new type of diffusive reflection layer, named Heraeus Reflective Coating (HRC). The HRC layer can be directly applied to various quartz glass products such as tubes and plates. The highly diffusive HRC coating provides a reflectivity of about 90% from the UV to the IR range. The combination of its high reflectivity and its high temperature resistance makes HRC superior to competing metal type coatings, mirrors or external reflectors.
