Our Glasteel® or fluoropolymer-lined shell is the backbone of your distillation column. Whether your separation requirements are for distillation, stripping, absorption or reaction, our process engineers complete the column solution by designing the column internals configuration for your specific process.
Process Simulation and Pilot Plant Testing
While our vessel engineers provide the mechanical design and corrosion technologies for your column shells, our process engineers are our mass transfer experts with decades of practical experience. They use the latest process simulation software to model your process to determine the optimum operating parameters and configuration using Hysys® and then validate the model at our modern pilot plant test facility.
Materials Engineering
We specialize in the safe containment of corrosive chemicals. Our Glasteel® and Edlon brand fluoropolymer technologies are ideal for column shells for corrosive applications. Ceramic and fluoropolymer column internals provide for the necessary mass transfer while maintaining the corrosion resistant. For less aggressive applications that do not require corrosion resistance technologies, we design and build stainless columns.
Pressure Vessel Engineering
The mechanical design of our column systems ensures safe operation under pressure or vacuum in the vessel or jacket. Pfaudler is certified to design and build equipment as per ALL MAJOR GLOBAL PRESSURE VESSEL CODES including ASME, PED, DIN, TUV, AD 2000, TEMA, SELO and GB150.
Column Internals Engineering
The design and selection of the proper packing or the design of trays, supports, distributors and collectors is critical to ensuring the mass transfer performance of the columns system. With decades of practical experience, our process engineers evaluate your process requirements and apply proven technologies to your column.
Column Reboiler and Condenser Engineering
Over a century ago we innovated the use of exotic alloys and are industry recognized experts in the design and fabrication of heat exchangers using high alloys, as well as with Glasteel®. To complete your corrosion resistant column package, our process engineers use Aspen Exchanger Design and Rating to design and size your reboiler and condenser.
