RUNI - Model SK240/SK370 - Compactor for EPS (AIRPOP)
Turn Your EPS Waste into Value: EPS is probably better known under other names, such as airpop or styrofoam. EPS is used for many purposes e.g. insulation and product protection during transportation. EPS is not biodegradable and when not compressed, it often ends on landfill where this light, but expansive material creates significant problems. However, by selling the compacted the EPS blocks you can generate an income. This is a benefit for EPS recycling and the environment.
EPS Compactor for Recycling
EPS waste can be compacted at the ratio of 50:1 with our RUNI styrofoam compactor. Before compacting, 50 trucks were needed to take the EPS waste to landfill and now only one truck is needed. The compacted blocks can be stacked on a pallet and sold for EPS recycling. On a truck or in a container approx. 20 tonnes can be loaded. TURN WASTE TO VALUE!
Our RUNI styrofoam densifier have a low energy consumption. In contrast to other manufacturers of styrofoam densifiers, RUNI styrofoam compactor does not add heat to the process. The EPS waste creates the required heat itself through friction.
Different Kinds of EPS Waste
EPS comes in many different qualities depending on the application and manufacturer. Density, fire retardants and the shape of the material together determine what RUNI styrofoam densifier we will recommend.
Density
We have seen EPS with a density from 10 grams per liter up to 100 grams per liter. Most types are between 20-35 grams per liter. The density particularly affects the compactor’s capacity per hour and whether a pre-crusher with a larger motor is required
The Shape of the Material
RUNI continues to develop several styrofoam densifiers to meet demands for the different sizes and shapes of EPS material. Through dialogue with our costumers on the flow of the scrap EPS, we are constantly enhancing the possibilities of handling different types of EPS-products.
Types of EPS Screw Compactors
Types of EPS Screw Compactors
Five models have been developed to meet the different capacities and material flow of EPS.
- RUNI SK120 has a capacity of about 18 kg per hour and is typically fed manually. It is recommended for an annual volume of less than 10 tonnes per year
- RUNI SK200 has a capacity of about 45 kg per hour and is typically fed manually. It is recommended for an annual volume of 10 to 30 tonnes per year.
- RUNI SK200TWIN has a capacity of about 90 kg per hour and is typically fed manually. It is recommended for an annual volume of 50 tonnes per year
- RUNI SK240 has a capacity of about 75 kg per hour and can be fed manually or by conveyor belt. It is recommended for an annual volume of 30-50 tonnes per year.
- RUNI SK370 has a capacity of about 200 kg per hour and can be fed manually or by conveyor belt. It is recommended for annual volume of 50 tons or more.
For SK240 and SK370 styrofoam densifiers a number of different hoppers, pre-crushers, silos, sensors and block divider for automatic cutting the blocks are available. All these options are to optimize the working process and to adapt the solution to the required application.
The EPS compactor can be placed at the end of a conveyer belt or in other way be fitted to the internal flow in the facility
