Model-based calculated and dimensioned flows are used for facilities where a dam failure would have extremely serious consequences. The method is also used for the analysis of flood risks.

Determining the dimensioned flow of dams is based on model calculations. By using the HBV model, flows and water levels are described when affected by extreme amount of precipitation under particularly unfavourable conditions.
