Ideal Water Treatment Systems

Deionization Systems

SHARE

The conductivity of water arise from the ions dissolved in water. This also determines the purity rate of water. Pure water is insulator and does not contain any dissolved substances. But in practice it is not possible to obtain pure water. The term `deionized water` is used to express water containing the least quantity of ions. Ideal deionization systems are especially designed in three different series for the industries like pharmaceutical, cosmetics, chemistry, accumulator, and electronics taking into consideration their process water sensitivity.

Dl TWB Series deionization systems are appropriate for the processes which use water of >20µS/cm outlet conductivity. These series include two fiberglass plated polyethylene tanks with special cationic and anionic resin for the disposal of dissolved cations and anions from the water, and an automatic command panel with conductivity sensor. Regeneration is done using acid and caustic. Regeneration tanks, injector systems, acid & caustic valves and regulators are included in the automatic systems.

Automatic regeneration control system with conductivity sensor provides practical usage.
These systems make the regeneration process automatically when it reaches the oulet conductivity that is adjustable. Besides with its delay time feature (delaying regeneration start), it is possible to prevent untimely regeneration errors that may happen because of instant ion escapes (conductivity rises) in resinous deionization systems. In this way, maximum resin capacity is used and chemical consumption is minimized.

For the continuous or more sensitive water requirements tandem and consecutive operating models are also available.
Dl MIX Series deionization systems: Resins leave H+ and OH- ions found in their structure while they catch the (+) and (-) charged ions in water. It should hold all the ions with the same charge depending on the ion concentration of the water flowing over the same type of resin in the same colony, but this does not happen in practical. For this reason, it is not always possible to reach the required pure water quality in single-pass deionization systems. In order to obtain the required water quality it is more practical to use systems with MIXBED resin instead of using two or more bypass deionization systems.

Dl MIX series systems are suitable for industries that need water with 0.2 to 1 µS/cm outlet conductivity. They are recommended to be used after reverse osmosis or Dl TWB series systems.
IDEAL ELECTRODEIONIZATION systems are the systems that guarantee 0.06 µS/cm USP 24 quality water to be used in injection especially in pharmaceutical factories; in continuous flow 0.07 µS/cm ultrapure water is also derived. They can be used after reverse osmosis or deionization systems.

In electrodeionization systems anionic and cationic selective membranes permeate only the pure water under electricity while the other ions are disposed to the drainage. Disposed water is about 5%. The system is practical because it uses electricity energy as the regenerant
