Paladin TwinDrive - Model 5 -Digital Microseismic Data Recorder
The Paladin 5 is the latest version of ESG’s next generation digital microseismic recorder. As the backbone of ESG’s microseismic data acquisition system, the Paladin 5 32-bit digital seismic recorder enables accurate detection of a wide range of seismic event magnitudes within a flexible, customizable platform.
Continuous recording on all stations at once ensures that no data is missed. Unique triggering methods can be configured to record event data based on specific criteria.
The Paladin® 5 32-bit digital recorder has all of the same great features as the PIV, with a number of improvements to performance, reduced power consumption and the addition of Bluetooth® capabilities.
Advanced Diagnostics Board:
Like the PIV, the Paladin® 5 incorporates a removable, licence card that controls the onboard capabilities of the recorder. Similar in functionality to the legacy Paladin Sensor Interface Box (SIB), the license card comes in two forms and is key to unlocking the full power of ESG’s Paladin® 5.
In its basic version, the PIV Daughter Card (PDC) offers a geophone pulse diagnostic test. The more powerful Advanced Diagnostics Board (ADB) introduces a wide range of additional features on the PIV, enabling powerful on-board processing and diagnostics capabilities.
The ADB is designed to interface with both geophones and accelerometers. Lights on the front panel indicate channel performance. Advanced diagnostic tools include voltage measurement, sensor auto detect, programmable AC/DC coupling, auto detect-correct polarity, geophone parameter extraction among other features. Use of the ADB simplifies installation and provides real-time feedback about the health status of the attached sensors.
Portable Units:
The Portable Paladin® is a rugged, web enabled, low power digitizer and microseismic recorder. In addition to ESG`s suite of geophysial sensors, it is compatible with a variety of broadband and short period seismometers.
The Portable Paladin is equipped with ESG’s Paladin® 5 32-bit digital seismic recorder, but is designed specifically for use in remote locations where data transmission is not feasible. Instead, the Portable Paladin® houses on-board continuous or triggered data storage via USB or compact flash.
The Portable Paladin® is not recommended for extended periods of monitoring in either underground or surface applications. Rather, it is designed for temporary, portable use.
Applications include:
- Blast monitoring
- Vibration monitoring
- Structural health monitoring
- Other geotechnical applications
