Dissolved Air Flotation System (DAF)

SHARE

Dissolved air flotation (DAF) removes suspended matter such as oils or solids in a water treatment process. The raw water is dosed with a flocculent and the subsequent floccs are then removed by the DAF process. Removal occurs in the DAF tank, where dissolved air is filtered from the bottom of the tank to the surface. This air forms tiny bubbles which attach to floccs causing them to float to the surface of the tank, forming a thick layer on the top of the tank. A scraper then removes this layer and the clarified water is drawn from the bottom of the tank for final clarification. Glan Agua Ltd. have designed, installed, operated and maintained DAF plants as part of the Galway GWS DBO bundle no. 2, the Four Roscommon RWSS project and the Burncourt & Fethard RWSS.
