Distran - Model Ultra CE -Ultrasonic Leak Detection Camera for Composite Manufacturing
The Ultra CE by Distran is a compact and efficient ultrasonic leak detection camera designed specifically for the composite manufacturing industry. This device revolutionizes vacuum leak detection with its handheld design capable of pinpointing leaks at distances ranging from 30 centimeters to 50 meters, effectively capturing leaks hidden in bag folds or under curing blankets. Equipped with a 124-microphone array, the Ultra CE detects ultrasounds, enabling rapid leak localization even in noisy environments, thanks to its robust noise filtering capabilities. Its integrated wide-angle optical camera displays leak locations on its screen, with a detection accuracy of about 1°. With a battery life of 5 hours, Ultra CE provides on-the-spot digital reporting using Audalytics, enhancing traceability and efficiency. The device supports digital exports via Audalytics or SD card in formats like JPEG and MP4, and is CE, RoHS, and WEEE compliant.
Composite manufacturing requires a perfect vacuum, as any leak in a bag can compromise the final product quality and will require additional time for repair. The traditional leak detection methods are tedious, time-consuming and heavily user-dependent.

Ultra CE’s 124 microphones detect ultrasounds and reconstruct the location of the sound source, i.e. the leak. Combining the acoustic information with the wide-angle optical camera, the precise location of the leak is shown on the screen on the back of the ultrasound camera.
The real-time visualization enables staff to fix leaks efficiently. The recorded images and videos can easily be used for reporting purposes.

Traditional methods to detect vacuum leaks, such as human hearing or ultrasonic detectors with headphones, require the operator to thoroughly check every potential leak point with the risk of missing leaks. With ultrasound imaging, detection is performed at a distance, much faster and leak locations are clearly visible on screen.
