Because of the shape of tubes they absorb maximum solar irradiation throughout the day, with little or no reflectance. Unlike flat plate collectors that only get full insolation at midday, either side of this varying amounts of radiation are reflected off the glass cover.

A significant portion of all solar radiation is diffuse radiation eg. On cloudy days. Because of their extremely large active absorber surface and TH Solar`s advanced vacuum tube technology as much as 80% of this diffuse radiation is captured. This means there is meaningful solar energy and stored even on cloudy days.

The evacuated tube collector is frost free by design. The circulating pump and controller provide frost protection to the rest of the system.
