Meaningful fermentation tests are essential for efficient biogas production. Through these tests, the microbiological processes and degradation characteristics of new substrates can be described and optimized. The procedures for fermentation tests are specified, among others, in the VDI Guideline 4630. With the GärOnA system, both batch and continuous fermentation tests can now be carried out fully automatically. The system minimizes the pressure range in the fermentation vessels, positively influencing the solubility equilibrium of methane, carbon dioxide, and other gas components in the liquid phase.
