ECS - Biological Odor Control Systems
ECS offers biological solutions for a number of treatments. We use both Biofilters and Biotrickling Filters for different applications.
- ~25–50 ppm H2S
- A typical Empty Bed Residence Time (EBRT) of 30–60 seconds
- We utilize non-compacting media with time-released nutrients.
Biotrickling Filters also employ naturally occurring microorganisms. Autotrophic organisms work to oxidize sulfides in the lower portion of the media bed, while heterotrophic organisms can work to remove volatile organic compounds (VOCs) in the upper portion.
Single pass irrigation utilizes plant water and an intermittent addition of nutrient-laden solution to spray over the top of the media bed.
Recirculating the irrigation water allows for faster acclimation of the biomass at initial startup or when the system has been offline or dormant.
ECS designs Biotrickling filters for foul air streams containing high levels of H2S.
