ABCO - Electro Deionisation (EDI)
Electro Deionisation (EDI) is a water purification technology that combines ion exchange and electrochemical processes to remove ions and impurities from water. In an EDI system, water flows between ion exchange membranes and electrodes under the influence of an electric field. Weakly ionised materials, like dissolved silica, carbon dioxide, boron and some organics are also removed. ABCO Water’s Electro Deionisation (EDI) plants are typically installed downstream of a Reverse Osmosis – Brackish Water (RO-BW) plant and are used to produce Ultrapure Water. EDI is now widely used as a replacement for existing standalone Ion Exchange resin systems due to its many advantages.
