EMB Barleben - Model BGT 4.1 -Buchholz Gas Tester
The Buchholz Gas Tester BGT series, including models BGT 4.1 and BGT 4.2, is designed to assess gas accumulations within Buchholz relays, which are critical components in transformer systems. These testers are instrumental in determining whether gas presence results from serious transformer faults or mere air accumulation. The BGT 4.1 model specifically measures hydrogen concentration, which is reliable for identifying fault conditions, since hydrogen is commonly produced during oil faults. The BGT 4.2 is more comprehensive, measuring various gases like hydrogen, carbon dioxide, carbon monoxide, total hydrocarbons, and ethyne, thereby enabling analysis of distinct faults based on gas composition. Utilizing the Buchholz gas sampler BGS, the gas sample is meticulously handled to ensure accurate readings, allowing technical decisions concerning transformer health and safety. These devices are pivotal in preemptive maintenance and operational safety of electrical transformers. Most popular related searches

The BGT 4.1 is used to measure the hydrogen concentration in the Buchholz gas. To make a decision „Fault gas or Air“ the measurement of the hydrogen concentration in the Buchholz gas is enough. Any kind of fault in the oil causes the formation of hydrogen.
The gas to be measured is sampled by the Buchholz gas sampler BGS and fed into the BGT 4.1. A BGS is included in the scope of supply.
