Equipment Shelter Solutions
Thermo Bond Buildings is in our fourth decade of manufacturing buildings for a variety of industries. We provide communication shelters, substation buildings, modular data center buildings, fiber huts and buildings for many applications. We operate manufacturing facilities in Elk Point, South Dakota and Elkhart, Indiana. The Elk Point facility is home to Thermo Bond’s headquarters along with our lightweight shelter plant. Our Elkhart facility is dedicated to the manufacture of pre-cast concrete buildings. These two locations provide us with the ability to offer you lightweight concrete building solutions to anywhere in North America. At Thermo Bond, our engineering team works with you from project inception to completion. We want to ensure that your specifications and project goals are met without exception. Our manufacturing capabilities are adaptable to your specific needs, and we are ready to help you at every step of the process.
We understand that changes during the approval process, and subsequent construction may result in modifications to the original design. If this occurs, we can incorporate the changes, limiting any impact on your requested delivery date and keeping your project on schedule.
Thermo Bond’s pre-cast concrete buildings are well-suited for a multitude of applications. Our industrial shelters are bullet, fire, pest and vandal resistant, durable and strong, making them perfect for remote locations or applications that require a secure facility. Designed for a minimum wind loading of 150 mph, our buildings conform to ACI-318 building code requirements. We utilize 5000 PSI lightweight solid concrete with billet steel reinforcing bars meeting ASTM A-615 grade 60 specifications and ACI-318 building code.
Our pre-cast concrete buildings provide a durable, maintenance-free equipment shelter. Built with a concrete floor, they can be placed directly on the ground without concern for deterioration resulting from damp conditions. Designed, engineered and delivered to meet your site requirements and aesthetics, they include a reliable integrated electrical system, cable entry, ladders, HVAC, lighting, specified alarms and backup components.
Thermo Bond’s lightweight buildings are the answer for customers that require fully-customized equipment shelters in a variety of sizes, fittings and capabilities. Our lightweight buildings are constructed to customer’s specifications and shipped fullyassembled, including lights, outlets, HVAC, generators, transfer panels, ventilation systems, cable ladder, grounding systems, and any other special equipment that may be required. They are available in sizes ranging from 6’ wide by 6’ long to 24’ wide by 40’ long.
A cost-effective choice for a variety of industries, our lightweight buildings have a wall system that consists of a minimum 5/8” layer of oriented strand board with .030 fiberglass reinforced plastic laminated to the interior side. The interior core is filled with R-11 fiberglass batt insulation. Our standard exterior finish is aggregate which is widely used in commercial office buildings. Minimum wall wind load is 120 mph. Built for lighter loads, the floor has a minimum loading of 200 pounds per square foot, and the minimum roof loading is 100 pounds per square foot. The building has a 3’ x 7’ steel door with rust preventive paint. An industrial grade adhesive sealer is applied wherever two pieces of material are joined together to ensure water tight joints. Perfect for a variety of uses, they can be mounted on a foundation or raised structure.
Thermo Bond’s custom cabinets can be designed, built and shipped as turnkey solutions. They can be designed, built and shipped as a turnkey solution including AC or DC power, battery backup, network equipment, generator receptacle, and AC/ventilation packages. Constructed of 14-gauge steel in accordance with the National Electrical Manufacturer’s Association (NEMA) Type 3R enclosures, they are used by providers of FTTx broadband access, wireless high speed internet access, cellular services, and digital subscriber line (DSL) technology.
