Scanmatic - Model SMIO -Expansion Modules for SM50xx

SMIO modules are used to increase the number of physical interfaces in IEDs from Scanmatic e.g. SM5049 or SM5059. SMIO-modules are available in different variants, with different physical interfaces, and they make it possible to tailor the system to the specific application.

SMIO modules are connected to the IED via the SMIO bus (RS485). Addressing and identification of the different modules is automatic. Each module has a unique ID detected by the IED. The ID together with module type information makes it possible for the IED to automatically identify the presence of a module on the bus. The physical connection is via a 5 pins bus connector. The number of bus connectors can be increase on demand
