Feritech - Model FT0520 -Gravity Corer

The main assembly is galvanised or powder coated and constructed from carbon steel (we also offer this product in stainless steel). This ensures a long lasting trouble free operation. The lead weights can be configured from 40kg to 500kg to control the penetration force. As with all Feritech products we can tailor them to your individual needs.

The removable weights allow the unit to be configured for the optimal penetration depending on ground type and requirements. Non-return valve and quick release We have spent a lot of time in perfecting the method for retaining both the barrel and the sample obtained. The same non-return value is used on the piston corer and the vibrocorer and many customers now use our valve instead of the piston with comparable results. We use a special ball made from marine grade stainless steel that sits in a specially shaped receptacle creating a vacuum above the sample while still allowing water to escape as the barrel enters the seabed.

This means operation is much simpler and safer and you still get excellent recovery. If a traditional piston is required we can offer this but with the added advantage of our Hydrostatic safety release making the entire operation much safer.  The barrel can be removed in less than a minute thanks to the quick release horseshoe system used on all our corers.
