The FishFlow eelladder is a fishladder that is specialised in providing migration opportunities to eel. The eelladder can be used to restore eel migration in areas where migration of other fish species is not desirable.

The FishFlow eelladder consists, just like the siphon fish ladder, of a closed tank that is con-nected to the waterlevel on both sides of a weir by pipes. A vacuumpump lifts the water to the highest level in the eelladder after which water starts running and the ladder starts siphoning. Because the eelladder is fitted with brushes in stead of panels, the ladder provides good passage opportunities to eel and glasseel but can not be passed by most other fish species.

The eelladder provides a suitable solution in areas where it is desirable to disclose to hinterland for eel without disclosing it for all fish species. This situation can arise when the quality of the fish stock or the water differs on both sites of a waterwork.

The first eelladder has been built on the Roggebotsluis near Kampen in February 2007. The lad-der enables migration of eels between Lake IJsselmeer and Lake Veluwe.
