STS - Model V4.0 -Fixed Siloxane Monitor
The STS Siloxane Monitor is CE certified. The Enclosure has these external connections: 230VAC 16A. Glands for gas lines: 3* Biogas feed lines: 6mm PTFE/SS piping. Maximum 1Bar input pressure. N2 carrier gas line: 6mm Nylon/PTFE/SS piping. Set at 1Bar at cylinder regulator Technical Grade 99.999%. Vent line: 6mm Nylon/PTFE/SS piping. Vented ~3m high, end of Line flame arrester to be fitted. Or return to suction/low pressure side where suitable point in the biogas stream if available. 2x 4-20mA output (24V powered).

Electrical supply Detail:
- A 230V earthed connection at 16A is fed into the instrument via a gland and connects through an undervoltage trip to the instruments 16A RCD0 30mA Type A.
Biogas Supply Detail:
- The sample line will connect to a valved sampled point, located on a continuous flow section of the sample gas main line which is tapped at the top of the pipework (to avoid condensation)
- At the sample point, a knockout filter and flow restriction will be installed. The flow restriction will be adjusted to give a nominal flow of 250mL/min.
- The Biogas sample line to the instrument will be
Biogas Flow rates:
- The instrument samples ~3L of biogas during a 20minute window every ~1hr, at a flow of approx. 150ml/min. This is passed through the instrument then vented to atmosphere or returned to suction.
- The instrument purges the biogas to vent or suction before every sample, at the set flowrate of 250mL/min set at the sample point. The monitor discharges ~12.5L/hr. It is recommended to return the vent back to the biogas stream.
N2 Consumption Detail:
- The instrument consumes ~3.5L of N2 every hour. Resulting in ~0.1m3 of N2 per day. This is passed through the instrument then vented to atmosphere.
- STS recommend using the largest N2 cylinder to avoid regular replacement.
- Air Products: X47S: 80kg 200bar 8.9m3. Technical Grade.
- Regulator: BOC 8500 or similar, 300Bar inlet, 0-4 bar outlet.
- This should last approx. 90days, 3 months.
Safety:
- Sample lines have flow restrictions set at 250mL/min located near sample valves.
- During Start-up, the two 24V fans are engaged to purge the Instrument which has an internal volume of 0.39m3 or 390L. These fans are connected to the intake and exhaust of the instrument (in series) with an airflow rate of 5.16m3/min or 5160L/min. This results in ~13 volume changes per minute. Exhausting the maximum potential leak of all 3 sample lines at 250mL/min, 0.75L/min total.
- The instrument will go into Standby mode if a fault condition has been triggered. In Standby Mode, all mains switching is disabled, and the instrument is put into standby, with no logging, solenoids are unpowered, inlet solenoid on gas route are closed and Kiosk fans are purging.
- Should the kiosk forced purge fans fail, or methane levels are above 10% LEL the instrument will be turned off after 10 seconds. Restart is only then possible by following the rest procedure after venting the kiosk.
The Siloxane Monitor is not EX or Atex rated and as such should be sited outside of any zoned area.
