Gas Barrier Membrane
With the increase in development of brownfield sites the prevention of ingress of noxious gases into buildings is increasingly becoming a concern. When installed before the laying of floor slabs or concrete screeds, GT`s Excelastic gas barrier membranes provide a continuous high-integrity barrier to prevent methane and carbon dioxide gas ingress into buildings. This section details the substantial experience of GT and the benefits of employing the service and materials of the company.
Product Description
Excelastic Gas Barrier Membrane is a proprietary polyethylene based membrane with exceedingly low methane permeance. It is supplied in seamless sheets up to 8m wide and in thicknesses from 0.50mm to 1.00mm. Excelastic Gas Barrier Membrane has been specifically formulated to have excellent puncture resistance characteristics and high tensile strength.
The Benefits of Excelastic Gas Barrier Membrane include:
- It is loose laid and can be installed on to a range of surfaces including sand blinding, geotextile and similar.
- Excelastic Gas Barrier Membrane replaces the need for a separate damp proof membrane layer in your project.
- The high puncture resistance of Excelastic Gas Barrier Membrane eliminates the need for an expensive layer of ‘protection board’ over the membrane.
- Rapid installation – up to 1,500m2 can be laid in a day.
Installation
We recommend that the installation of the Excelastic Gas Barrier Membrane is carried out by the trained Staff of Geosynthetic Technology Ltd, we work throughout the world. On this basis, adjacent sheets of Excelastic Gas Barrier Membrane are welded together on site using electronic rotary welding machines. The resultant fusion weld between sheets is impermeable to gas and equal in strength to the material itself.
Supply only format
On straightforward projects Excelastic Gas barrier Membrane can be supplied in either prefabricated panels or in roll goods form with flashing tapes for the Contractor’s own installation.
Standard roll sizes for self-installation: 25m x 4m (folded to 2m)
