GasBoss/H2 - For Fuel-Cell Apps

Hydrogen fuel is a highly explosive NEC-Class I, Div 1, Group B rated gas and requires NEC-Group B approved gas sensors to monitor hydrogen buildup due to leakage.  Many Group B hydrogen sensors are approved as Explosion Proof (XP), requiring either shut down of the gas detection systems or removal of all gas storage tanks and hydrogen fueled vehicles from the facility before performing sensor maintenance or replacement.  This is a costly and time consuming penalty for a H2 rated system. Rel-Tek has been issued an Intrinsic Safety (IS) approval (Class 1, Div 1 and 2, Groups B/C/D) for its GasBoss/H2 sensor and matching IS barrier.  IS Div 2, opens the door for large savings over XP, i.e. the use of normal wiring methods, and permitting service while under power, and without having to remove the hydrogen fuel storage and fueled vehicles from the fuel cell equipped garage facility…massive cost savings for the owner.
