Genius5 Windselect - Source Sampling System
The Genius5 Windselect includes an interface, where an ultrasonic windsensor is connected. The Windsensor measures Windspeed and Wind direction and transfes the results to the Genius5 controller once a second. The software defines 2 Windsectors for sampling and a threshold velocity The controller samples to 1 cartridges dependent on Wind speed (e.g. below 1 m/s) and 2 different cartridges dependent on the set Windsectors in relation to the wind direction
After the measurement periode, the cartridges are sent to the laboratory together with the USB memorystick, where the cartridges are analysed for pollutants.
Potential for reduction of fine dust, metals, carcinogenics
Hot spot sites near a streat or a point source and Background sites show different concentrations of dust. Regular 24 hours measurements don´t provide informations of local traffic impact or point ource impact to the resut. Genius5 Windselect samples fine dust to different cartridges, dependent if the wind comes from the Background area or directly from a Point source/traffic. During clam condition the Genius5 samples to a 3rd cartridge, while wind speed is below the set calm limit.
the Windselect data give valueable information, about adverse dispersion effects or low level point sources and the potential for PM10 reduction in µg/m3, if the emissions of the point source/street are reduced.
More parameters for Positive Matrix Factorization
Besides the PM10 levels, other parameters provide additional informations, to separate the influence of several point sources:
- All cartrides sample the fraction greater than 10µm with a 50% cutpoint, providing information about pollutant deposition
- Cartridge FU_10 is designed to sample PM10 in combination with POP´s (persitstant organic pollutants), or other carcinogenics like PAH´s, oxidised PAH, Nitro PAH
- Cartridge FU_20 is designed to sample PM10 in combination with metals, gaseous mercury
- Cartridge FU_30 samples PM10, PM2.5, as well as POP´s and carcinogenic pollutants
Additional parameters may be used to calculate the impact of many different sources using Chemometric methods or Positive Matrix Factorization

Fuel cell leak test
Because of the use of hydrogen, fuel cells need a highly accurate leak test. For all of our sampling systems we have developped a very accurate leaktest.We have developed the Genius5 Leak with the focus to do leak tests only. This device can be used to do a leaktest for fuel cells, their components and the piping system. The loss is calculated in Pa/min or ml/min. Simple and clever for more safety.
WindSelect® software to get more sampling informations
The Genius5® in the WindSelect® mode is an ambient air sampling device, which samples to different cartridges depending on the wind situation. It is designed for continuous application and serves the surveillance of the persistent organic pollutants (POPs), as well as dust, depending on the selection of the cartridge and filter material.
New software design enables excellent reporting and use for different applications. This instruments was developed for 20 years to serve:
- Stockhol convention (persistant organic components)
- Chemometric methods for source apportionment
- Positive matrix Factorization
Sampling only in small sectors allows to reduce the number of sources for later statistical data evaluation.
