HazPak - Model CAT C4.4 NA - Explosion Protection Engine
From EX Power Systems- Powerpacks
The C4.4 NA HazPak is a naturally aspirated explosion protection engine designed for safe use in ATEX Zone 2 hazardous locations with its Gas Group IIA and T3 Temperature class certification. This explosion protection diesel engine provides up to 70hp at 2200rpm and is suitable for a range of well service applications such as compressor sets, gensets, wireline, hydraulic power packs, firepump packages and water jetting units.
ATEX Power Pack Features
The inlet system features a flame arrestor that prevents a flame emerging from the inlet and an air shut-off valve which stops the engine from running in the event of gas ingestion.
The exhaust gas temperatures cannot cause an explosion thanks to the exhaust gas cooler reducing the gases to below 200°C, the auto-ignition temperature of common hazardous location gases. In addition, there is a spark arrestor and an exhaust flame trap to stop any flames from emerging from the engine exhaust outlet.
The C4.4 NA design incorporates a hydraulic or pneumatic control system designed to shut down the engine should any of the key safety parameters such as exhaust gas temperature, coolant temperature and engine speed exceed design values. Depending on the cause of activation, engine shutdown is achieved by a combination of the air shutoff valve and fuel cut-off valve.
With typical ambient capability of -20°C to +45°C, the C4.4 NA HazPak package can be customised with various options including:
- Industrial radiator or Marine radiator with solder dipped core
- Pneumatic and hydraulic starter options
- Twin Starter pocket as standard
- Local control panel
- Ex Power & charging options
Cat HazPak diesel engines are designed, manufactured and tested by Caterpillar and are fully supported in the field by the Cat worldwide dealer network.
