StedFASTHeavy Duty Back Spillage Detector for Conveyors

SHARE
The Heavy Duty Back Spillage Detector is an innovative solution designed to mitigate the risk of spillage from conveyed minerals at critical points such as transfer stations and chutes. The system is made up of two similar units installed on either side of a conveyor where spillage might occur. Each unit features a paddle aligned with the edge of the conveyor belt. When spillage occurs, the paddle is pressed, activating a rotary switch within the unit. The detector can include an optional time delay feature to avoid unnecessary conveyor shutdowns due to momentary paddle depression from temporary material drops. The device employs a rotary switch with one normally open and one normally closed contact, with ratings of 16 Amps at 250V AC and 1 Amp at 125V DC. The unit supports cable entry through a CM 20 20mm cable gland and is certified as intrinsically safe under the ATEX standard EN 60079-11:2012 for explosive atmospheres. The system’s intrinsic safety allows it to operate with maximum voltage and current UI max at 50 volts and II max at 100mA, respectively.

The Pease Probe Sensing (blocked chute) device comprises of a compact weatherproof plastic moulded enclosure containing a microswitch and associated terminals. The enclosure is also fitted with a flexible actuating probe which operates the micro-switch when it is deflected sideways. The Davis Derby Pease Probe is suitable for many applications in mining and the minerals handling industry.

The Pease Probe (Blocked Chute Probe) is a versatile sensing device with a wide range of applications in mining and the materials and bulk handling industries.

An actuating probe is fitted to a plastic moulded weatherproof enclosure housing a microswitch and associated terminals When deflected sideways, the probe actives the microswitch.

Typical applications include:

  • Conveyor Blocked Chutes
  • Broken Haulage Rope Strands
  • Belt Misalignments
  • Dead Mans Handles
  • Torn Belts
  • Vehicle Movement
  • Liquid Levels
  • Door Positions

Versions
The Pease Probe can be supplied with probe lengths of 12”, 18” or 24” and an option of a time delay on the switching function which is adjustable up to 15 seconds.

Switch Rating
The Pease Probe is fitted with a single pole changeover microswitch rated at 240volts ac, 10Amps.

Cable entries
The unit is supplied with one CM 20 20mm cable gland and one 20mm tapped blanked off entry.

Certification
The Pease Probe unit is deemed intrinsically safe to the ATEX standard EN 60079-11:2012 Explosive Atmospheres-Part11:Equipment protection by intrinsic safety ”i” section 5.7 ‘Simple Apparatus’.

The switch contacts can be used to switch an intrinsically safe circuit with the following characteristics:

Ui max = 50 volts; Ii max = 100ma.
