IGI - Model IG-1401 -Piezometers
The model IG 1401 piezometer consists of a rigid cylindrical housing, of diameter 20mm having the innovative vibrating wire sensor inside. The vibrating wire sensor element is completely isolated from the total stresses acting on the body by the help of O rings. The unique design gives a slimline body which accurately reads water pressure without being affected by the surrounding stresses. The small diameter is very useful as it requires a small bore hole diameter and hence reduces cost of boring. The piezometer has a high or low air entry filter affixed through an “O” ring at one end. The other end has a sealed cable entry. With the filter in place, the main diaphragm of the piezometer is isolated from solid particles and senses only the fluid pressure to be measured. The filter is easily removable for calibrations and saturation.

- No effect of cable length on performance of the sensor.
Any change in pressure causes a change in tension of a pres-stressed magnetic wire sensor. To measure the change in tension of the wire, its frequency of vibration, which is a function of the tension, is measured. A conventional readout unit can accurately measure the resonant frequency of the wire. A more sophisticated microprocessor based readout unit can display the frequency as well as the physical parameter directly in engineering unit.
Piezometers are suitable for connection to data loggers for recording data automatically at pre-determined intervals. By the use of appropriate software, the data logger can present recorded data in desired formats, predict trend of variations and even generate alarms at pre-determined set points.
