Specac - Model Vortex -In-Situ NIR Spectroscopy Process Flow Cell
FromSpecac
The Vortex process flow cell is a flange-mounted liquid flow cell with ANSI or DIN flange fittings. It features sapphire optics and SMA 905 fiber connections as standard. It is designed for in-situ monitoring of industrial chemical process streams by NIR spectroscopy. The flange fittings make it possible to install directly on the process plant or in a short by-pass loop. Contact us today to discuss your process spectroscopy needs.

- DIN or ANSI flange-mountings: sizes from ANSI 1/2" or DIN 10 upwards are available.
- Pathlengths: can be factory set at minimum 1.0 mm, maximum 10 mm.
- Sapphire optics: for NIR spectral range
- Factory-aligned optics: ensures optimum measurement stability throughout the lifetime of the cell.
- Optional Tell-Tale and Cleaning ports: for preventative maintenance and monitoring.
- The Vortex cell can operate at temperatures up to 280°C and at elevated pressures.
- Flange classes PN6, PN10, PN16, PN25 and up (European) and 150lb or 300lb (US)
- A choice of body materials are available for the customisation of your flow cell. We manufacture in Stainless Steel 316L as standard but Hastelloy® C276, Titanium, Zirconium 702, and other grades of Stainless Steel are available upon request.
- Window sealing materials are generally perfluoroelastomers such as Kalrez, Polymax, or Viton of various grades.
- To ensure optimum NIR spectroscopic absorption features for analysis, optical transmission pathlengths are available from 1.0 to 10 mm.
- Specac process cells can be connected remotely to the widest choice of commercially available FT-NIR spectrometers using standard SMA 905 connectors. A large range of process analytical applications on a petrochemical site can now be realized simultaneously with just one spectrometer and an optical multiplexer by the combination of Specac gas, vapour and liquid cells.
- Particular attention has been paid by Specac in the careful selection of appropriate IP65 rated protection for the fibre-optic cable connection to ensure peace of mind for the process engineer.
- By using highly polished sapphire windows and optimized flow patterns the risk of window fouling in raw chemical process streams is greatly reduced.
- The ruggedness of the cell also allows for harsher in-situ cleaning methods like high-pressure steaming or using elevated temperatures for short periods of time.
