Genap - Latrine Bag for Human Waste

Sanitation is a major problem in third-world countries. Poor sanitary facilities can cause illnesses such as diarrhoea, which can be fatal particularly in children. Our partner Aqua Aero Water Systems from Delft has developed a concept whereby human waste is collected in an underground well. This well is lined with a foil that is produced by Genap. The aim is to prevent the waste – which is contaminated with nitrogen and bacteria – from spreading to the soil and into the groundwater.
