Many companies choose to make briquettes from their MDF & sander dust. A lot of MDF plates are used for production of doors, kitchens and furniture for example. Sander dust and ofcuts from such production often contains some unhealthy chemicals that means it may only be burnt under controlled conditions in power plants and heating plants, with the needed installations to clean the exhaust from the boiler units.

Briquetting of MDF & sander dust offers the following advantages

  • Reduce volume
  • Avoid explosion risk
  • Reduce Health & Environmental risks
  • Sell or burn the briquettes to reduce fuel costs

This solution shows a medium capacity line for MDF dust installed in a factory manufactoring doors.

The installation comprises one briquetting presse BP 3200 and a dosing silo with round insert to avoid bridging problems. BPU 3200 with optional mixer and die cooling system is a good alternative. The briquettes are produced in Ø60 mm.

The capacity of this plant is max 600 kg/hour.
It is normally necessary to install a mixer and water adding equipment, to increase the moisture content from around 6% to 10-11 %. The increased moisture will make it possible to produce firm briquettes from MDF and other sander dust.

We are ready to perform a test briquetting based on you supplying us actual dry raw material, with correct particle size and moisture content.

Increased capacity, 600 - 800 kg/hour
The capacity will be increased to at least 800 kg/hour by choosing the BP 4000 or BPU 4000 instead. The briquettes are Ø60 mm.

It will often be problematic to use a BP 5000 or BPU 5000 for briquetting of MDF, as it is often a problem making MDF briquettes in Ø75 mm.

The briquettes are sold to an industrial customer for heating.
