The Jeffrey Rader Metal Turnings Crusher reduces uncrushed turnings, which are a tangled mess and difficult to handle to crushed turnings, which provide short shoveling lengths and are easy to handle and store. Metal Turnings Crushers reduce bulk 50 to 80%. Turnings are reduced to a fineness suitable for briquetting. Average weight 250 to 300 lbs. per cu. ft. after briquetting.

A Large Capacity Crusher for Magnet or Clam Shell Bucket Feed
The Jeffrey PMT-666 Metal Turnings Crusher is designed as a primary unit for reducing large capacities of steel turnings. It is capable of taking feed from a clam shell bucket or magnet and reducing the turnings to a product approximating 4 inches to 12 inches at the rate of 25 to 50 tones per hour. This product can be readily handled and fed by conveyors to secondary crushers for further reduction if desired.

The frame is of heavy welded steel, equipped with renewable liners. The hammers, which weigh approximately 90 pounds each, are of hardened steel, insuring long life. They are easily replaced when worn.
 
Crusher with Top Feed
The standard crushing elements are made of manganese steel coated with the best wear-resisting metals. They are pear shaped in design with double edges for maximum crushing efficiency. Crushing elements are easily replaced when worn, without disturbing feed connection to crusher.

Most crushers are furnished with low frames of rolled plate steel and welded together to form a sturdy, rigidly constructed machine. They are also equipped with renewable manganese steel liners, high grade self-aligning roller bearings and rectangular cross section screen bars of high carbon steel, riveted together in sections.

Either a heavy fly wheel pulley for belt drive or a flexible coupling and balance wheel for direct connection to motor can be furnished. A structural steel sub-base can also be furnished for mounting crusher and motor as a unit.

Hinged doors on back of machine provide easy access to interior and metal catcher. These doors are secured by T-head bolts and latches.
 
Crusher with Side Feed
Steel Turnings can be fed by hand or conveyor. A hopper suitable for either method of feeding can be furnished. For hand feeding, hopper can be supplied for top or side feeding as illustrated above. Both are equipped with a safety flap gate.

Upon entering the crusher the turnings are met first with the crushing elements or hammers and are primarily reduced by impact. They are then further reduced by passing over and through the screen bars in the bottom of the crusher.

Both the speed of the crusher and the spacing of the screen bars determine the degree of fineness of product. The turnings are easily reduced to short lengths for hand shoveling, or to a finer product which is ideal for briquetting.

The crushing elements maintain their crushing position by centrifugal force, but are free to swing back when coming into contact with tramp metal which might accidentally be fed to the crusher.

The breaker plate is cushioned by heavy springs which absorb any unusual shock. The machine is also equipped with a built-in metal catcher which is easy to clean our periodically. The combination of these safety features provides a crusher with maximum protection against damage by tramp metal or other foreign objects.
