Methane Mitigation Technology

Methane emissions, of which 60% comes from human activity, are the second largest contributor to climate change. Whilst methane emissions are 84x more potent than carbon dioxide in terms of contributing to global warming, they don’t last as long in the atmosphere (around 12 yrs) compared to carbon dioxide which can last for centuries. The reduction of methane emissions in the short term is an important part of the plan to combat climate change providing time for solutions to be developed and implemented to reduce carbon dioxide emissions.
