Milk of Lime Plants
The hydrated lime plant is a system for producing milk of lime from hydrated lime (Ca(OH)2) and water. Our plants can be designed for batch or continuous operation.
The lime hydrate is fed from the lime silo into the lime milk preparation tank using a combination of rotary valve and lime screw conveyor. It is mixed with water under constant stirring and thus processed into milk of lime. The desired concentration of the lime milk suspension is defined using dosing units for water and hydrated lime powder.
Our lime slaking plants offer a system for producing milk of lime from quicklime and water. The plant can be designed for batch or continuous operation. Our lime slaking plants are used economically from a lime consumption of approx. 500 tonnes per year.
The desired concentration of the lime milk suspension is defined using dosing units for water (H2O) and unslaked lime (calcium oxide, quicklime). In the lime slaking tank, quicklime is hydrated with water and processed in an exothermic reaction to form a lime milk suspension. The slaking concentration is 20 - 25% by weight, depending on the lime product used.
The milk of lime is diluted to the required concentration in the downstream storage tank. The additional benefit of our plant is a wet absorber, which permanently extracts the vapours produced during hydration from both tanks. It cleans these in a water mist and releases purified air into the open air.
