By means of this encoder, the HiMod actuator registers the position of the output shaft even when there is a power failure, if the position of the output shaft is altered by operating the hand wheel.

As a result, changes of position which could occur during a power-cut can be reliably identified and, when power is reinstated, this information is communicated accurately to the control system.
