Model FV -Foot Valve with Inlet Screen
The primary purpose of a foot valve is to maintain the suction head in a vertical pump suction line and eliminate the need for priming a pump each time it is started. CVI`s check valves can be converted into an excellent foot valve by attaching our foot valve accessory package.

- Excellent pressure loss and flow characteristics for control of suction head loss
- Dual Disc, single disc, and axial flow wafer check valves have high flow coefficients and low pressure loss.
- Strainer baskets are designed with an open flow area that is 150% of the pipe cross section area. Basket and cone designs are available with a variety of meshes or perforations for exceptional pump protection and maintenance of pump efficiency.
- Reliable Performance
- Light weight discs close prior to reverse flow and minimize water hammer pressure shock.
- Ductile iron body with stainless steel disc(s) and Buna seat for bubble-tight shut-off and prevention of suction head loss are standard. Other materials are available.
- Standard screen material is 1/8" perforated 304 SS. Other screen materials available upon request.
- Less Piping Stress
- Dual disc, single disc, and axial flow wafer check valves weigh as much as 75% to 85% less than standard swing check designs.
- Slip on flanges provide lower weight and ease of installation.
- Ductile Iron body is standard. Many variations of materials are available upon request, consult factory.
- Springs are removed to increase the responsiveness of the discs.
- Due to suction lift requirements for the pump, valves open 80% and fall to close quickly once flow ceases.
- Variety of trim and seat materials are available. See "Figure Number Information" chart in dual disc brochure.
- Standard strainer screen is 1/8" perforated 304 SS. Other screen materials, perforations and meshes are readily available as specified.
- Slip on flanges provide ease of installation. Class 125 pattern is standard, 150,250. 300, 600,900,1500 are also available.
- CVI`s foot valve assembly is normally installed in vertical up-flow piping. It can also be installed in horizontal piping. When installing a dual disc check valve in horizontal piping, always insure that the hinge shaft is in a vertical position.
- For long service life, CVI`s check valves are to be sized to insure that the liquid flow rates comply with the recommended minimum and maximum flow rates shown in CVI`s check valve product literature-
