Ecodesign – Sustainable Use of Resources

We strive to conserve natural resources both in our daily business and in how our products are used in customer applications. By focusing on our core competence – water treatment and the safe transport of liquids – we help to ensure that the valuable resource water is used economically. Energy is also saved by using our products. With the right design (ecodesign), suitable materials, correct dimensioning and appropriate control of the individual components, energy consumption can be decreased. This protects our environment and at the same time lowers costs for customers.

Reduction of Carbon Dioxide Emissions in Production

In production facilities, the greatest environmental impact is in energy consumption. Non-renewable resources are consumed and emissions are produced. We persistently seek to improve energy efficiency and reduce carbon dioxide emissions by optimizing our production processes.

Our Employees’ Health is important to us

Reducing accidents and absenteeism are central to our social agenda. Healthy employees who feel comfortable at work are motivated and are an asset in making sure our customers are satisfied. We are actively involved in providing a healthy work environment, preventing accidents and reducing absences.

Working together with our Suppliers

The social and ecological responsibility of a company also covers the choice of business partners, such as suppliers. In the Supplier Code of Conduct, Georg Fischer defines the requirements for all its suppliers of goods and services. The key issues of the Supplier Code are ethical conduct, respect for human rights, socially acceptable working conditions, adherence to environmental standards and implementation of management systems.

Key performance indicators

In the context of annual sustainability reporting, Georg Fischer compiles social indicators at all its sites. At production sites, environmental indicators are additionally gathered. These indicators compiled in the Sustainability Information System (SIS) are based on the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) and are published in the Georg Fischer Sustainability Report.
