The main two pillars in the patented design of the modules where efficiency and reliability. With this mind only the best and most advanced materials are selected from our suppliers to make sure AQUA|STILL modules are the standard in the membrane distillation industry. Watertight modules are guaranteed by using a very advanced production method with a minimum number of production steps. Archimedes spiral shaped flow channels provide a 100% counter current flow pattern to optimize the driving force for the process.
Flexibility, reliability and efficiency combined in one single elegant solution
Length of flow channels can easily be adjusted based on temperature profiles and other customer desired thermal efficiency. The design creates a self-insulating module with a minimum loss of heat to the environment. Special designed headers guarantee uniform flow through the channels to avoid dead corners and maximum use of membrane surface area. Spacers are optimized to promote turbulence for minimizing concentration and temperature polarization therefore maximizing fluxes. Self-degassing is made possible by entering the module at the bottom and leaving the module at the top, which also enables easy piping. Chemical resistance is guaranteed for most fluids by using only high resistant plastic materials in the modules. With an empty weight of only 50 kg these modules are easily handled, transported and if necessary replaced.
In working towards industrial MD applications AQUA|STILL constantly develops larger and more efficient modules. The current baseline is set around the single largest 24 m2 AGMD module in the world. AQUA|STILL can provide modules with a membrane surface area of 1 – 120 m2.
