AASHTO’s National Transportation Product Evaluation Program (NTPEP) was established in 1994 in an effort to help state DOTs consolidate testing and evaluation of products used in highway and bridge construction. This effort is helping state DOTs reduce the amount of duplication generated in testing and auditing of applicable products. The program also allows manufacturers to provide products for evaluation to one centralized program for approval in order to qualify for access to markets in multiple states.
