Geotomographie - Model SBS42 -P-Wave Borehole Source
The borehole source SBS42 generates compressional waves (P) in water filled boreholes. It is used for is used for P-wave tomography which is a standard method for high-resolution geological structure exploration between boreholes. P-waves are generated in one borehole and being transmitted to the other. P-wave tomography measurements are easy to analyze due to the easy recognition of the first arriving seismic waves. Sparker pulses are released through manual or automatic triggering of the impulse generator (IPG5000) controlled by the remote control unit (RCU). The seismic signals are highly repeatable. Most popular related searches

The borehole source SBS42 generates compressional waves (P) in water filled boreholes. Energy released by the IPG5000 discharges through a coaxial cable terminated by two adjacent spark electrodes. The spark discharge vaporizes water by a high-pressure plasma. This generates vapour bubbles which expand and collapse, thereby generating high-frequency seismic waves.
Test showed that the P-wave sparker source SBS42 is highly repeatable up to frequencies of 4-5 kHz.
