Peridotite Mineralisation
Peridotite mineralisation is a natural process, the earth is doing it all the time, but in nature it can take decades to mineralise even a small amount of CO2. We accelerate the process, meaning we can potentially mineralise as much as a billion tons of CO2 every year. We do this by injecting CO2, dissolved in water into peridotite formations deep underground. We have a range of proprietary technologies to help us do this, and we are investing in R&D to make our process as cost-effective and efficient as possible.
For every ton of CO2 mineralised, we create a valuable carbon credit which can be sold in the open market or utilised to decarbonise hard to abate emissions.
Carbon credits for mineralised CO2 sell at a premium compared to carbon ‘storage’ which never truly removes the CO2 and requires lifetime monitoring and insurance.
The carbon market is growing rapidly and the kind of high-quality, permanent carbon credits that 44.01 produces are in increasing demand.
