The Plexus Controls wireless mesh to Bluetooth convertor enables field staff to access the mesh network remote and hub sites using a Bluetooth enabled Windows Mobile 6 handset such as the Trimble Nomad© running Plexus mobile application software. The complete unit is housed in a convenient pager size unit complete with belt clip. This unit enables field operators with any Bluetooth enabled Windows Mobile 6 platform to load and run Plexus Field Management software and read and write to any well site that is located within the mesh. The dongle is self contained and runs from 2 x AA alkaline batteries.

For most of the time the dongle will be in sleep mode, with the mesh radio powered down. To wake the dongle up the push button at the top is depressed and the Bluetooth radio will start listening for serial communications data to be sent from the Plexus Field Management application. On receiving the data packet the dongle wakes up the mesh radio and transmits the instructions to the IWS mesh system. The dongle will go back to sleep after 1 hour of no traffic

Typical battery life is up to 1 year. When the batteries charge is low, the dongle will sent a message to the Plexus Field Management application software that will display and alert on the screen. Typically the low battery alert will display up to a week before the unit will stop functioning.
